Grounded in City of Light's vision, the purpose of our disciple-making Groups is to provide a space to ‘belong’ in the family of God and ‘become’ more like Jesus.
Belonging
As a space to belong, Groups are intended to be a fellowship of God’s people within our local congregation, a space where people of different generations, cultures, backgrounds, and walks of life can belong to the one family of God and to one another as siblings in that family. It is a space for mutual care and support, for friendship and encouragement, and for sharing the life of discipleship together. As we pursue this vision together, our Groups can also become a hospitable space into which others can be invited to belong with us.
Becoming
As a space to become, Groups are oriented toward finding a new day in Jesus together. Groups are centered around practices of prayer and Scripture-reading in order to ground us in our identity as disciples of Jesus and orient us around a shared life together. Life together in the family of the Church is a life of shared discipleship––of becoming increasingly more like Jesus, together, through the power of the Holy Spirit. As Groups, we worship, pray, study Scripture, and exhort one another toward that end.
