As the school year is coming to a close and we turn our attention to the summer, I wanted to inform you about some changes in the City Kids schedule.
City Kids for birth through fifth grade will continue to meet as usual through June 22nd, with the exception of Pentecost Sunday (June 8), when families (ages 4 and up) will worship together in the sanctuary.
Starting June 29th, Elementary City Kids will be taking a six week summer break. Full City Kids will resume again on August 10th. During the break, children ages 4 to 10 (preK to fifth grade) will remain with their families throughout the service. Nursery for children ages 3 and under will run as usual.
We are taking a break for three reasons:
We want to create healthy rhythms of ministry and rest for our City Kids shepherds and youth helpers who serve so faithfully and steadily with our children.
A break allows me focused time to pray and plan for City Kids ministry and growth in the coming year.
This is an opportunity to embrace our church value of intergenerational worship. We already have established the practice of worshiping together during Feast days, so our City Kids will be used to this rhythm.
During this summer break, I encourage families to prepare for Sunday mornings the same way we prepare our families for Holy Week. Bring snacks, books, and/or quiet activities for your children. Worship bags and coloring supplies will be provided at each service. Feel free to walk to the back of the room with your child or into the hallway if helpful. Pray for opportunities to connect and worship with your kids throughout the service and after.
Finally, I invite your family’s prayers for the City Kids ministry throughout the summer. Pray for the children to grow and flourish in knowing and loving the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Pray for the City Kids shepherds to be refreshed and reconnected with the Lord. Pray for me as well as I study and plan.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Peace,
Pastor Brittany
